Welcome Barak!

Fist Bump?? Fist Pump?? Huh??

Round my way, we call them daps and/or pounds. "Whatever you call it..." - my mom ads, "It's cool!". She thinks it's soooooo funny! And just like that, I welcomed my parents back to my APT. ;) My parents are so cute! I think that my dad loves my place more than I do - and he totally admits it.

As much as I love their company, I'm just sad that I'm under despotic deadlines @ work. I'm unable to spend some meaningful time with them and be that guide. :(. But we've been able to have some good chats and laughs despite. But as my mom added, she came to relax and just rest up. Say wrd. ;)

Shouts to my bro who took some time off to come hang all the way from The Boro. Then again, he was itching to unveil his new purchase. Ha.

Regardless, welcome Barak Mom & Dad. Always a pleasure. ;)

Ay!

HAPPY BDAY DAD!

What a day. What a week in fact. I was seemingly away from the AIM café as my folks were in town to see the Don, 1st born, I & I, and I then headed back home to celebrate my Dad's bday. What a blast!

1st, my parents came thru town. Ever since my dad discovered GPS devices, he's been on this driving tear. He's one who never traveled any distance that he didn't know well. Then, suddenly, he drove to NYC! So they came through to kick it for a week. That was fun. Laughed, ate and watched Poupées Russes and La Doublure.

My mom loves trinkets, so she spent hrs pon hrs in Chinatown. She loved it. So cute!

So after a fun filled week, headed to the home town to have a great day with the whole fam: yow x yul connected for my dad's bday.

One thing my dad loves doing is running his mouth and laughing. There was much of both. You see, my dad's a kind of raconteur. Has a story for every situation. So they ran. Hard! My dad's seen alot though. Going from being a student in Haïti, to a young UN teacher in Zaïre, to a married father of 3 in Canada. Nothing but love and admiration. All day.

Happy Bday Papi! Many more to come. ;) Of course, more shots here.

BESO!

Bday shouts to TR Gunna, More Mec, CaitCulli (see you tomorrow) and Les Bleus!

Cuisi-Cuisinier

So when I left QB, and moved into my new place, I swore that i would start cooking tons more. Why shouldn't I have? I spent a small mint on a nice stove by Kitchen Aid and was also messing with come cookware from Calphalon.

So, I've started to look @ baking since I did miss my dad's (yes indeed my dad) paternal pastries. He used to make a sick banana loaf and I would have to keep myself from boxing the whole thing in 1 or 2 days. Esp when it was hot w/ peanut butter. YES! Anyhow, so it went - the genetics @ work. I tried a few weeks ago and succeeded but wanted to make a next attempt @ a oatmeal loaf. As you can see above. Just added sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds as well as currant. 45 mins @ 425 and....

Witness: The Immaculate Convection.

So you know that you can safely ask to have some oatloaf when you see me next. It's tasty and healthy as well. Dope.

Anyhow, I look fwd to cooking alot more. Though I see myself posting about this somewhere else soon.... Shouts to my man Connoisseur of Consumption aka Kevlar.

We stay crunk with the culinaries.

Snow Much Fun

Years.

That's when I last had seen this much snow. I certainly wasn't complaining esp in light of the milder temp. The Celcius meter never really dipped whilst in the nation's capital. I was in mostly in a shell and tee (as you can see), and left my Goose @ the crib. But I also had no real plans on leaving my yard anyhow, if not only to catch up to old friends who had facebooked me (officially a verb yes).

But the whole week was spent sleeping beyond my usual 4-5 hrs of shut-eye, eating like an Egyptian King and laughing with family. Nothing better. My fully naturalized mother was probably the happiest out of all of us to see this much snow as she could show you that Xmas Spirit is a tangible product. ;)

YUL fam was in the house, and they need to get a shout beyond the unconditional love, for linking the salt fish patties. They got run tough!

Fam was the focus indeed. Don't get to see my Aunt like I 1nce used to. Infact, my whole fam escapes me more than not these days, so these events and moments are indeed all the rage and fun.

Same goes for some good friends I have out there that I got to see in a more social setting: The local bar. Good Look.

Ha! I always know I'm in YOW after I order 2 jager Bombs, 1 Heinie and a Gin & Soda and the total is $21. Are you kidding me? @ these prices, I'm glad I left the city. But I held a friendly salute indeed: Family, friends and your boy Cero Ocho who is about to ring my door bell. Say wrd.

These last 10 days were the proverbial calm before the storm. Lemme enjoy it one last time. ;)

Bonne Fete Conard!

Pause for the cause.

Happy Bday bro! Been a blast having you intown. I actually had to stop to think about it when I called last night. Can't believe it either. Won't put you on blast like that, but you know how I feel dude. 1st, 2nd or 3rd born - means nothing dude. Despite the fact that you used to break into my room, and go chill there w/ your boys..... LOL. It's all fam, all day. Papi et Mami showed us that du premier coup. Whishing you The Best le jour de ton anniversaire. Allez, on bouffe et on s'éclatte ce soir. ;)
