Madlib x Brent Rollins x Stones Throw = Say Wrd

I've had this on going work campaign that just seemed to NEVER END! ARGH! So I was staying offline unusually. So popping upyesterday, I got an immediate hit from my man Strong from Stones Throw. They've been toying with the idea of putting out more tees, but they've always had the one offs here and there and, I happen to own a few myself.
So he hits me with the link and voilà...

They've done a collab tee with famed Brent Rollins, notorious for his work with Stüssy, Nike, and most notably Ego Trip. So now, Madlib is also a customer... you bet.

They'll be a perfect complement to my Topshop dnm. Wrd. These are due in the Stones Throw eStore quite soon with the last black and pink colorway exclusively available during the Madlib x J-Rocc tour in Japan. WTF?? What the hell is up with all the Nipponese exclusives?? Anyhow... I should be in LA soon. Hope to cop one. ;) Big shouts to Minister of Information, my main man Strong!

Hella Live: MadLib Live DJ Set @ Raleigh Hotel, WMC 2008

This was bound to happen.

Stones Throw decides that they will release the live recordings of the DJ sets @ Hella International last month. They start off with the Witch Doctor himself: MadLib.

Anyhow, all you need to do is click and get the MadLib one. Dope.

They better get that Karriem Riggims set out soon... Just make sure to read the disclaimer about keeping a neck brace close, and to not be operating a motor vehicle. It was soooo sick.

Here's a taste...

BTW, my Hella International pics are up for perusal. Enjoy.

Created with my man's application.

The Ecstatic

YO. I was not joking abou the missing H. Every year about this time, I vanish from cyberspace. Too swamped @ work - or more like, it's just crazy enough to keep me off. I'll manage...

But I'm just days removed from a few trade shows. But you know, I keep my eyes peeled. Anyhow, after regretting not getting any footage of Black Dante aka Mos Def @ a show in Toronto, I caught up with him in Las Vegas last week.

Madlib turns dem strings up!

I feel that Mos has been more excited about his coming LP, The Ecstatic that we are. He's been raving about the Madlib beats ever since last fall. Hell yea I'll co-sign that. In fact, word is that he carries a beat tape w/ him @ all times. Seen.

Anyhow, you got me Mos. I'll cop it fa sho.

BTW, good look to Nah Right for the post.

Moslib?? Maddef?? Regardless, this LP The Ecstatic is due to certainly be one of the best. Hold this Madlib The Bad Kid beat.

The Healer: Nu Badu

Pls don't hate me for saying this, but I was never a massive fan of Erykha Badu. I still recall when she was just starting and everyone and their mom was losing their mind. She's had a fantastic career, and I would be the 1st to acknowledge it. But I could never get over the wig-gate. I mean, it was never a massive deal but I still recall having that convo with my man Tony Young, bka Master T, and how disgusted he was @ the fact that such a spiritually focused singer and performer was passing off what was soon to be discovered to be a counterfeit coiffure, phony dreads as real hair. My man was pissed... and I too was kinda like: man, that's kinda wack. Top of that, never liked how she turned my man Common right out. Common definitely ate the rice. Damn.
But, I'm not mad. She's still fine as hell. And her booty is bananas - esp in light of that small frame of hers. She's got classics and had worked very closely w/ Dilla. In fact, possibly too close. I still recall this interview where he mentioned starting to get a massage from she...

Anyhow, some of you might recall my mention of Badu's surprise appearance @ the NY Stones Throw tour stop as she performed nu material from Nu Amerykha - her new record that's due to drop next month. So I finally heard one of the bangers she did w/ Madlib the bad kid.

It's bigger than religion, hip hop....

....It's bigger than the government.

This one is for Dilla
.

Whilst we still look to mend our broken hearts, Badu comes from the skies to play the part (1 for Dilla). Enjoy.

MOVE: Stones Throw x Dilla, FEB 16th 2007 @ Wrong Bar

Man, I knew I was going to have a great day. I slept well this weekend, had a great breakfast and was starting to plan things in my head - great things. I've been in touch with House Shoes since last fall trying to set things up for February's Dilla month in Toronto. But I knew there were rumblings of something bigger to take place.... An they were confirmed today in an email:

Stones Throw is bringing the Chitown bi-monthly to Toronto: MOVE.

I had been trying to get down to that night in the Chi for a min (I like heading down there + I have yet to go to Sonotech), but as of today, it has officially made it's move to Toronto.

On deck will be: Egon, J-Rocc & Madlib. We dearly missed J-Rocc @ The Dec 1st tour stop. But, we'll have him in the best environment. Add Madlib, and Egon? If that were not crazy enough, it might get even crazier. Why you ask??

★ February is Dilla Month ★.

The Stones Throw massive will make certain that the man's legacy carries onwards. For anyone who recalls the April 2007 event @ Revival, you know that this one will be just as bananas.

So the count down is on.

This info is so fresh, many of the details have now been ironed out and they go something like this:

Stones Throw x GoodFoot presents: MOVE
Featuring J-Rocc, Karriem Riggins, Egon & Koushik.
February 16th, 2007.
@ Wrong Bar: 1279 Queen West
Ticket details: $15 (with proceeds going to Ma Dukes) and avail @ Play De Record, Rotate This.
FaceBook group here.

Take Notice.

Stones Throw bills it, J Dilla and Guilty Simpson kills it. Enjoy.

Bounce (C'mon)! Bounce (C'mon)!

I wish I could get out of this rut I'm in. No really it's just been in an exceptionally busy 3-4 months. But I think that I'm finally over it. I will say that mymanhenri.com is still in beta form. I plan to do lots to it over December and get ready for what will be a busy new year. That's almost certain.

In the mean time, the next few weeks will be hella busy. Trying to stay up after that super hectic sched that was RBMA - I feel like I still have trace amounts of it in my blood, which is likely why I have some nights in. Oh yea.. it's cold out now as well. Anyhow, most know that I did LAX a few weeks past. So I hit the Stones Throw launch of the 2K Bounce tour. Went for a few reasons, meetings and greetings, but mostly to see the lineup as it was meant to be: PBW, Madlib, J-Rocc, Percee P, Guilty Simpson, Aloe Blacc, K. Riggins and Supreme Team etc...

As you might know, Dec 1 is the Toronto tour stop for this show (Shouts to Nasty Nav). This show is still a must by all means. J-Rocc and Madlib. Period. Anyhow, here are some clips from the LA gig.

Ahhh... That quixotic Madlib. Here he is doing the robot. This was so classic.

MED with that live sh*t.

If you're a fan of the music, make sure you make it out. Rumors have been flying about some of the merch including some tour exclusives, like Perseverance instrumentals. Count me in dude.

It all takes place Dec 1 @ the Opera House.

See you there....
