We know Japan's Junko as she dealt with gyals to hold the Dance Hall Queen title. I was watching bshmnts in FRA and ITA and even the . But I still think that some of the bashiest gyals dem are in the far corners of suburbs... Like SCARBOROUGH! LOL. And really... half the fun is listening to mans toast the mic with foolishness and chat slackness.
Anyhow, here are some random youtubes that I picked from the myriad of motion pictures out there. And you know that every single bashment is on film!
You need to watch this one through the end still... WOW.
EU DanceHall Queen (from FRA)
I've been telling man like Dread that I would reach some bshmnts.... Soon come still.

Not since this past summer had I been privy to the sounds of your man and Philly's own Rich Medina. I last saw dude @ the Do Over in LA whilst on a decompression trip.
So tonight, in this week of full of blackness, we are blessed to have your man with the Jump n Funk sound @ the Revival tonight for a Black Presidential event like no other.
Should be tight as hell. Last time I peeped a full Jump n Funk, I was in Miami for WMC. Broad day light. Kinda heavy.
Rich knows how to lead the crowd - like a President do! Whether it be words or riddims.... Say wrd.
Looking for a heavy bshmnt to gwan tonight long side Footsteps and Main Ingredient. Shouts to General Eclectic. Say wrd.
See mans and ladies tonight.

Dearly beloved... we were gathered last night in QB in the sign of Dionysus and in the face of this company, to unite these kindred spirits in the most holy of merriment, commended to be honorable by all. Therefore – is not by any – to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly – but reverently. Into this holy Stafford estate these persons present now come to be joined. If any person can show just cause why they may not be joined together, just leave. ;)
What do I live for?? These days... just the key things: family and friends, in the that order. And really, for the latter of the two, the close ones are prolly just family anyways. Good times are simply the therapy you need in trying times, and not saying that I'm in any kind of rut but I've certainly been in better places of late. Much like my folks, belief that wining and dining among family is priceless - and last night was just that.
Shouts to all I saw last night, from the Black Beatles (Jon Jon, Man Like eBanks and Ramòn), Harbs & Daniella - you guys need your own reality show, Celine, Lynne, Suzi, Nat, Patrick, iVana, Toula, Steph and Pam. Extra special big shout to Jon Jon for being a fab host. I need a bigger yard! A great night indeed. Wishing you cats all the best for the holidays, and see you next year, in 2000-mine, cuz it will be about me. ;)
As much as I don't post much music here these days, how could I not dedicate a track this time around? A lovely update of a classic. Who doesn't want love among friends? I do love it like this... ;)

Indeed.... Dare to WONDER.
1nce again, Michigan and Detroit are playing into the historical musical landscape.
Stevie Wonder, a multi instrumentalist who is mostly known for his mastery of the keys, has influenced countless fans of soul music world wide. Without question, his influence has touched well known luminaries among which are two of the finest selectors and music connoisseurs world round: Bobbito Garcia aka Kool Bob Love aka DJ Cucumber Slice, and DJ Spinna.
In a brainstorm, their love for Stevie's catalog translated to tribute night entitled WONDER-FULL. Note the double entendre.
A party born in NY, had recieved such acclaim that the dynamic duo were suddenly fielding requests to take it on the road. And on the road they have.
It is our pleasure to announce that this famed fiesta has now made it to our lovely city.

Man, not oft do we have the pleasure of having cats from EU come thru town, but you know how Toronto stays: spoiled. This month has been pretty crazy and the momentum maintains this week.
Friday, we play host to Simbad - UK based French born producer as part of the 1yr anniversary for Vintage. But one thing stays true: BANGERS.
Signed to RawFusion, a label that I like to keep an eye on, Simbad will bring that exquisite electronic dance floor tempo. LADIES! ;).
So having said that much, Toronto's due to be blazing all this week, leading to a blazing weekend and Simbad will signal the start of a good weekend. So come out. Bring a friend, tell another. Shouts to my man Paredes! Should be fun.
Vintage 1 yr anniversary ft. Simbad (RawFusion, UK)
Friday july 18th w/ residents Patrick Paredes, Basic Soul Unit & Jason Ulrich
Supermarket - 268 Augusta
Facebook Event here.
And speaking of Momentum, a recent banger from Simbad. Hold it.
See you there.

No doubt. We do.
There are certain events and conversations that i will never ever forget.
♥ The original Slum Village lineup performing @ Comfort Zone.
♥ Dilla showing up in a limo @ the Opera House right before the SV set, with and MPC under each arm.
♥ Dave1, former (?) senior music writer @ Vice magazine and now co-head of famed Chromeo inexplicably watching women lose it whilst ?uestlove played some SV during his 1st Toronto DJ Set.
♥ Dilla showing up minutes before his set @ the now defunct Roxy Blu, and cutting thru the crowd amidst the jubilation.
yyz got it - yep. Toronto does Love Jay, in case you knew not. Say Wrd.
Tonight: TO Love Jay. Click here for FB group & deets. Shout outs to BLK BTLZ. (you looking for the ni**az, yea we be dem...)
Have fun folks. Again, I'll reach in spirit but duty calls. Shouts to Merv and Cairo. Good look on the adv tee.
So whilst TO shows you the deal, this SV rmx will show the mandem how I feel.

I should have done the same - is all I thought to myself reading these same words as they mysteriously appeared on my phone. As much as the weather was starting to take a turn for the worst and it got pretty cold, Friday night started well.
Headed over to LoKi for quick drink and shout to Soul Shack and Soul on Ice for the love. Caught up w/ TR Gunna who was riding shot gun that night - heels + fishnets and all. ;)
To quote NIN:
It was a downward spiral from there.
Catching up w/ King Britt and hearing about his coming projects was amazing. He also added he was settling in Philly for a while as the touring was starting to wear his patience thin. Well, I sorta get it. But the Grey Goose bottle service was eventually offered and well, I obliged. The real problems started @ bottle #2. Simply put, after chaperoning Gunna back to her yard, I somehow made it home as well, unwisely by myself.
As I recall (what little I do):
woke @ 8
stepped out.
went back home.
Popped the blue pills but nothing. Man.
and in bed for all day light and most of eve.
I'll spare you the deets, but this mirrored the now famous Bird and Tangerine episodes. Yuck.
I 1nce again will udergo a voluntary detox.
Shouts to TRG, Dapper D, JonJon, Diamantes, iVana (London, eh??) and King of course... Had a blast!

This will be the start of a busy week. I should be concluding things up @ work which I am desperately looking fwd to despite the fact that it's been fun of late. Seriously. It's that time of year where I take long road trips w/ some good uninterrupted music. It promotes clarity. Ha.
But the week's end (and I say this as the week as yet to even start) brings a litany of lavish nights, starting with one of my most anticipated:
My man King Britt is in town to bring us some of that sulty, soft red glow, sweet susurrus, Hotel Victor bizness. Toronto chapter of IML checking in King. I'll be in my best accoutrements, and my worst comportment. Ladies, your Fave Ex BF™ will be there to take your mind off worthless worries and share splendid spirits (double entendre).
Whilst I was Barcelona bound via London this summer, King hits me like "Dude, I'm in Paris for a gig. Come thru. I got you." ARGH! I tried to make the dots connect. No dice. 2wo weeks ago, whilst LA bound and stranded in Philly, I again hit up the Pharoah of Philadelphia himself, and he then tells me that he's having a birthday party the monday night. Again, I was a hair away from confirming plans, but work was hollering with a cut throat deadline. Man. No luck. But it's all love. Good look King. Let's break bread when you're here. Looking fwd to it.

Is it really the # of the beast?? Well, I would argue that over a few times, and I love Bruce Dickinson on top of that (when he had long hair).
SO, BLK BTLZ have a surprise show tonight @ the Beacs. Your boy's bday was yesterday and I wanted to blow it all out and go hard. Then work got real busy. So I had to keep it low key. So, I'm taking it to the Beacs and just makin it real fam like. So, if i ever borrowed money from you, that's cuz I consider you fam. So come thru. If I ever dated your sister? That's just cuz I love you too. So come thru. If I ever chopped your cousin, that's just cuz she was watching me all night. So come thru, and let your cuz know to bring the v-neck I left over there.
Haha. Just playing. I already got my v-neck.
In anycase, I will be playing some bangers that night despite having a hell of a time playing last night w/ Serato. WOW. +, I just realized that I was AS rusty as Jordan on his return. So lemme take that last comment back. No better than J, more like just as bad. But i'll be working on that. Best believe. So until then, come toast w/ your Fave Ex Boyfriend™!
So, here it is:
BLK BTLZ present
The 666 Bday Event for
My Man Henri aka Your Fave Ex Boyfriend™
Wednesday October 10th, @ The Beaconsfield - 1154 Queen St West
Soundtrack by the Mighty BLK BTLZ (JR, DD, RC, HB)

As I mentioned, Smirnoff was so kind to put together a sick lineup for the night of June 21st - a Summer Launch of sorts. In The Mix was the event, hosted by Ed Lover and it featured Royalty all night long: DJ Premier, 9th Wonder and birthday boy Chocolate Boy Wonder bka Pete Rock.
NY would not be NY w/o drop in guests: Q Tip showed up to run a set, Kweli was also in the building as well as Agent Orange himself, Pharoahe Monch. Shouts to Donwill and VonPea of Tonya Morgan long side Che Grand who hung out w/a ninja that night...
The night itself was a highlight, though seeing Pete Rock blow out his 27 candles was a trip ;)... Hearing DJ Premier sing Happy Birthday to Pete Rock was another trip... But finding out that Ed Lover is a grandfather was bananas! Whoa. When did you last see your Grandpops w/ a Blackberry and a dookie chain getting faded off Smirnoff Red Apple? lol
Anyhow, before I forget, shouts to Harlem's most celebrated PhD for being such a great host even in absentia, Eternia (what a surprise), Shara who remembered (hey, we'll have a cake in Toronto as well!) and Expedia for keeping me moving along...
In any case, here's my megapixel dissertation. Enjoy - I sure did.
Hit the rd...
.. and up and away.
The Party.
Bumped in to...
Then spaced right out in Time Sq...
Now, in much honor of the night, you know I had to post some music.
So with that being said, enjoy the following 3 joints:
New Common, prod by DJ Premier
One of my fave street bangers by The UN - produced by Pete Rock, &
9th Wonder and Buckshot.
Click Play. Do it.
