Serious!

"Serious as your life is, and you can find these bizalls where eva your wife is...."

I have said it many times over and over again: Toronto get's spoiled. We've had a monstrous start of 08 with all the shows and all the nights. It's getting better all the time, and I know this summer will be even more bananas. In any case, next in line:

The Long awaited Guilty Simpson Release Party.
Even better, special guest will be none other than World Famous DJ HOUSE SHOES - one of the Detroit Disco Dynamite key holders. Prolly the most official.
This event will be like none other in Toronto. It'll be House Shoes' 1st time in the famed Megacity and he's been wanting to come up for quite a whilst now. Almost did it a whilst back, but the starts weren't aligned.
I chatted about HS a whilst back after his famed HVW8 podcast. That one reverberated around the globe a few times, Ty G will tell you all about that one.

Anyhow, Guilty's record drops March 25th 2008 off Stones Throw. Make certain you cop that one. It's been too long in the making, and the time has arrived.

We'll be celebrating Sunday night March 23rd w/ House Shoes in Toronto. Long weekend Sunday. Could it get any better?? I think not. Here are the very Official Deets:

Stones Throw Records Presents....

Those were bullets whizzing by. BOP BOP BOP!

No. In all seriousness, I'm hearing rumblings of a Guilty Simpson Release Party @ the end this month. Ya heard?? The Ode To The Ghetto album drops March 25th so it would make some sense. But, meatier is the rumors of a special guest. WTF?!?! I ran into your man Guilty in London this past summer and in LA in Nov and he's been talking about wanting to come up... Sh*t. This could be f*cking heavy...

BOP BOP BOP! Guilty Simpson... Rude Bwoy Tings.

So whilst we wait for the Ode To The Ghetto like fiends, The Beat Conductor and Guilty himself tell us about this f*cking American Dream. Look for more deets about this release party. Say wrd.

Ode to The Ghetto

Indeed.

What a week. 1st Stones Throw announces Move in Toronto, then they confirm the long awaited release: Guilty Simpson's Ode To The Ghetto.

Last year, Guilty released a well received and celebrated Stray Bullets mixtape that cats stood in single file for. Guilty has been the buzz for quite sometime and there seemed to be no stopping the swelling of his fanbase.

Look for production to be handled mostly by a mix of Madlib, Black Milk and Oh No. The late and greatest Dilla will also be given production credits. Ode also features the much talked about dream team of Jesus Price, Black and GS himself. So it's been written: March 25th is the day the gun talk picks up where Dilla left it off. Ironically, GS is the coolest guy around. Real quiet cat. We got to rap in London his summer @ a ST show @ the infamous Cargo. Anyhow, do your due Dillagence and make sure to grab it when it drops.

So whilst you duck frantically from all the strays, Guilty Simpson calmly plays. (back to back days w/ GS). Shouts to my man Eric Lau for the banger.

Detroit 2 LA: House Shoes x HVW8

My man Ty G has been burning up putting out a sick podcast. He just started it recently and has had some heavyweight (pun intended) cats come thru: Daz-I-Kue, Black Spade and a few others. Most recently, vol.17 was touched by the newest LA resident but forever Detroit rider DJ House Shoes.

This Michigan magistrate has been down with the D before cats knew what was happening. Having seen the Dilla movement from it's infancy, he forever carries the torch and spreads that Detroit doctorine @ each able opportunity.

Thx Stones Throw

I've always respected the label, music and artists, but in more recent years, I have grown to love all about them [read the operation]: the business model, their artwork, simplicity of their site design and philosophy. Let alone Dilla moved there to LA to be with them, and that they house some of the more interesting artsists around right now (Madlib, Guilty Simpson, and employ one too).
They are usually pretty quick to embrace technology and changes in the fan's daily routine - gawd knows we're all over the place: Youtube, Myspace etc...
As such, they have a podcast that I subscribe to, as all iPod/computer owners/fans of indie labels should.

They're more recent one was just one simple track.

and with that being said:

I present Guilty Simpson's Man's World.

Produced by none other than the latest and greatest J Dilla. His legacy scintillates forever. Don't look for this track to be available for sale as a 12" or on GS's 9/11 album (that's right), as there's a very transparent and self evident $ample clearance hurdle. And since they are coming off a lawsuit for The Red (off Jaylib)...

Anyhow.

Lean back, click play & enjoy... (after thanking Stones Throw in your prayers).
